Work That God Requires

John 6:29
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Application:

The crowd that surrounded Jesus wanted to know what works God required of them (6:28). So Jesus clarified: This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent (6:29). The only thing God demands of those wanting to receive the free gift of eternal life is belief in his Son, Jesus Christ.*

Believing in Jesus is not just a simple acknowledgment; it represents the essential work that God seeks in the hearts of believers. When Jesus speaks about belief as the work of God, He highlights the significance of faith in our relationship with God. It is through belief that we accept Jesus Christ as the Savior sent by God. This concept emphasizes that faith is an active pursuit, requiring more than mere intellectual consent. It invites individuals to foster a personal connection with Jesus, recognizing Him as the central figure of their faith, and not one of His created beings.

John 6:29 demonstrates that this belief is not simply for individual gain but is a divine pursuit that aligns believers with God’s purpose for humanity. Through faith, Christians are called to seek understanding, grow spiritually, and share the message of Jesus Christ with others. In doing so, they participate in the work of God on Earth, manifesting love, grace, and compassion.

In conclusion, embracing the message of John 6:29 invites us to reflect on the depth of our belief and its implications. As we strive to deepen our faith and understanding of Jesus, we engage in the essential work that God calls us to fulfill in our lives and communities.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
