Psalm 33:12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.
Application:
What a blessing it is to be part of God’s elect people (33:12)! In his omniscience, he observes everyone (33:13). He does not deliver those who are self-sufficient, who rely on their might or ingenuity (33:16–17). Instead, he rescues those who depend on his faithful love amid the most perilous circumstances (33:18–19).*
The word “nation” is derived from the Hebrew word “gôy.” This verse refers to a group of people that make up a country, not just the government itself.
America today is politically divided, marching toward communism and religious indifference; however, God always reserves for Himself a remnant—a nation—that will be steadfast in His Holiness and will walk in obedience to Him, His will, and His Holy Word.
Our Lord Jesus Christ drove this verse home in Matthew 5:5-9, “blessed are they who…”
