Dear Lord – Poem

Dear Lord

I give my heart, Lord Jesus,
To hold forevermore
Within your arms, I am secure
As I’ve never been before.

I’ll guard with the greatest diligence
This heart wherein You dwell
For out of it flow words of life
That delivers men from hell.

My enemy is crafty
Deceiver is his name
Subtlety is his method
To discredit and defame.

His mission is to steal and kill
And try to take Your place
The battle rages daily
As I continue in my race.

So grant me, Lord, the wisdom
To discern the plans and schemes
The evil one has set for me
To destroy my hopes and dreams.

There is no place for unbelief
And doubts must surely flee.
For from God’s throne You came to earth
To set the captives free.

I will not be discouraged
I will not faint from fear
I’ll wear Your mighty armor
And see my victory clear.

Prepare me, Lord, to overcome
To rule and reign with You.
Continue what you’ve started
And Your love will see me through.
