Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
Application:
In order to build an authentic community, you have to build people up rather than tearing them down. What comes out of your mouth is part of your new wardrobe, and it doesn’t include foul language (4:29), bitterness, anger, and wrath, shouting, and slander (4:31). We must say what is needed. And while we must deal with real-life issues, our goal must always be to help and not hurt. Our words must minister grace to those who hear (4:29). Don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit (4:30). The Spirit’s joy, presence, and power will not be yours if you make him sad when you open your mouth.*
Whatever is in a person’s heart comes out of his mouth; it is inevitable.
In Luke 6:45, Jesus says that people can be judged by what they say and do because these things reveal what is really inside the person: “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” If you want to know what is on the inside of a person, you simply watch his actions; listen to what comes out of his mouth regularly. This is not being judgmental; this is being realistic.^
If a person is angry, rude, lewd, or immoral regularly, you can be assured that this is what he is like “on the inside.” If a person is consistently kind, encouraging, and polite, then you can be sure that is what he is like “on the inside.” Of course, someone might put up a façade to deceive others regarding his character, but eventually what is inside will come out. The mouth speaks out of the abundance—the overflow—of the heart.^

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
