Death Destroyed

1 Corinthians 15:20-22
The Last Enemy Destroyed
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

Application:

Contrary to what some Corinthians claimed, Paul insists Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep—that is, those who have died.*

The use of “firstfruits” here calls to mind Leviticus 23:10-11. In that passage, the Israelites were required to bring the first portion of their harvests to the priest as an offering to the Lord. This was done in anticipation of the full harvest that was to come, as they placed their trust in God for provision. Thus, Christ’s resurrection is the promise that believers will one day be raised.*

Adam disobeyed God and introduced both spiritual and physical death to humanity. However, through his resurrection, Christ-the last Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-47)—has made eternal life available to all.*

This eternal life is available to all; however, it is received by those who believe and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

John 1:12-13
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
