Jesus Laid Down His Life For Us

1 John 3:16
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Application:

Observe the love of Christ. First, He “laid down His life.” It was voluntary and a willing action. Second, it was “for us.” It was vicarious; He sacrificed in our place. What are the implications for us? We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters (3:16).*

Now, few of us will ever encounter a situation that would require us to sacrifice our lives for others. That’s why John doesn’t stop there. If you see a fellow believer in need, remember that love expresses itself by providing for them (3:17). Meeting the needs of fellow Christians—whether physical, emotional, or financial—is the most practical demonstration of love and the clearest indication of fellowship with God.*

How can you say you love God, whom you cannot see, and yet hate a Christian brother or sister, whom you can see, feel, and touch (1 John 4:20)?

Our relationships with our neighbors are a true indication of how much we genuinely love our God and how much reverence we hold for Him.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
