The Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Application:

The fruit of the Spirit stands in contrast to the works of the flesh. Works are actions driven by your flesh, while fruit is produced through you by the Spirit as you respond to His urging (see John 7:38–39).

The sources are varied, and their outcomes differ. Just as the works of the flesh are visible to all, so is the fruit of the Spirit. You can’t overlook it. And make no mistake: fruit always reflects the tree’s character that produces it. Apple trees don’t yield oranges.

You cannot exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (5:22–23) in your life without the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit reflects the life and character of Christ that is cultivated in us as we walk in fellowship with Him.

While the works of the flesh lead to destruction, the fruit of the Spirit brings life and renewal. It serves others. The fruit of the Spirit is mainly expressed in our relationships.

-To love is about seeking another person’s well-being—especially when that person can offer you nothing in return.

Joy is the settled celebration of the soul within us, even when circumstances don’t make us happy. –Peace results when strife gives way to harmony.

-To exercise forbearance is to be long-suffering instead of short-tempered.

-We demonstrate kindness when we help rather than hurt.

Goodness summarizes the virtuous acts and attitudes that advance the kingdom of God and benefit others.

-The fruit of faithfulness brings constancy, perseverance, and dependability.

Gentleness is seen in the one who practices tenderness in submission to God.

-When we say “no” to sin and “yes” to God in the midst of temptation, we exhibit self-control.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
