No Fear

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Application:

The Greek word used here, “ deilia, “ refers to cowardice stemming from a lack of moral strength.2

Timothy struggled with a spirit of fear. His timidity probably resulted from various factors, including his personality, persecution, false teachers, the burdens of ministry, and the lack of a strong male influence in his youth. 1

However, Paul assures him that fear does not come from God. Instead, God’s Holy Spirit provides power, love, and sound judgment—the essential spiritual resources for fulfilling ministry and utilizing spiritual gifts. These divine resources are available to everyone: the power to use our gifts, love for those who benefit from them, and good discernment in applying our gifts. 1

Paul echoes this sentiment in Romans 8:15:

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

When we make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and obey Him, the Holy Spirit is constantly within us, empowering us to bring down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans In Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible.
