Faithful Through Trials

Trials

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Application:

The Lord is faithful. Many people are unreliable, but you can always rely on God. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one (3:3). That’s why being with the people of God in God’s presence is essential. Paul is confident about what God will do for the Thessalonians. He will keep them obedient and guide [their] hearts toward God’s love and Christ’s endurance (3:5). Similarly, as you live in God’s presence, he will sustain you, and you will stand firm.

In Ephesians 6:10-13, Paul emphasizes that people are not our main problem. Humanity’s real struggle is not against flesh and blood but against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens (6:12). What we call spiritual warfare is the conflict in the spiritual realm that impacts the physical realm. The daily challenges we face are rooted there. But, importantly, the resources you need to fight the battle are also there.

Paul told the Ephesians that through Christ, God has given them every blessing they need in heavenly places (i.e., the spiritual realm) (1:3). The risen Christ is at God’s right hand (1:20), and Christians are spiritually with him there (2:6). However, the cosmic powers of darkness also exist in the spiritual realm (6:12).
