Psalm 121:7-8
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Application:
In Psalm 121, the psalmist reflects on the mountains of Israel, mighty towers of rock. Such images of strength lead him to ask, Where will my help come from? (121:1). He concludes that help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (121:2). Indeed, the greatest protection doesn’t originate from the mountains, but from the one who created the mountains.*
The Lord is a shelter (121:5). He protects us from all forms of evil, both physical and spiritual. He guards His people from all harm, whether by day or night, in their coming and going (121:6-8). Therefore, submit yourself to God’s kingdom and receive the blessings of His covenant covering.*
When we, through faith, receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we become God’s children (John 1:12), born again of the Holy Spirit (John 3:3-8), and no longer slaves to sin (Romans 8:14-15). By living in obedience to Him, all His promises become available to us, for God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19).
The Lord is the Protector of his people (121:3). There is no safer place in the universe than where God wants you to be. He cannot be defeated, and He does not slumber or sleep (121:4).*
