Reverence and Trust

Psalm 25:14-15
The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.
My eyes are ever toward the Lord,
For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.

Application:

Who is the person who fears the Lord? (25:12). To fear God is to take Him seriously. This attitude toward God is reflected in our obedience to Him. Such a person will live a good, Spirit filled life, which includes blessings that lead to internal and external prosperity (25:13). God rewards those who fear Him with His inside information—secret counsel that is specific to the individual and their personal experience of God’s covenant (25:14). Therefore, David kept his eyes fixed on the Lord, confident that He would pull his feet out of the net—that is, deliver him from his enemies (25:15).*

Because of God’s character—his goodness and integrity—sinners can learn the right way to live from him (25:8). They should humble themselves and accept his instruction (25:9), instead of arrogantly thinking they can do it on their own. The Lord’s ways are always good and truthful, and those who come under his covenant experience them (25:10). Again, David asks God to forgive his iniquities (25:11), which could hinder the flow of covenant blessings.*

Fearing the Lord does not mean we should be afraid of Him, unless we live in opposition to Him and His sovereign rule (Matthew 10:28). Fearing the Lord means we stand in reverence to Him; we honor and respect His ways, which are better and higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). It involves placing our complete trust in Him and not leaning on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).^

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
