Jesus, The Way, The Truth, The Life

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Application:

Jesus promised His disciples that they knew the way to where He was going (14:4). However, Thomas wasn’t so sure: How can we know the way? (14:5). It was as if he said, “You haven’t given us a map, Lord!” But Thomas had misunderstood. “The way” isn’t a path; it’s a person: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (14:6). The Lord Jesus Christ is the universal point of access to God. There is no other entrance into heaven. If you want to know the Father, you must come to Him through His Son. Jesus assured Thomas that if he knew the Son, he knew the Father (14:7).*

Jesus Christ is the only way to God, not Mohammed, Buddha, Krishna, any saint, or any other created being. He was the only man born of a woman, not by the will of a man, but through the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20). Because of this, man’s sin was not passed on to baby Jesus at His birth. This explains why Eve was created from a rib of Adam (a bone containing marrow, where blood is produced) and why Adam was blamed for the fall (Romans 5:12). Adam passed on sin through sex.

Jesus lived a perfect life, without sin (Hebrews 4:15), and became our Lamb to cleanse us from all sin (1 Peter 1:18-19) and to present those who believe in Him and are born again to God the Father as a bride dressed in fine linen (Revelation 19:6-8). In the Old Testament, the blood of the lamb prevented the Angel of Death from judging God’s children, and it simply passed over that house when the angel saw the blood on the doorposts (Exodus 12). Jesus is now our Passover Lamb.

When God looks at a Born-Again Christian, He sees their heart covered by the blood of Christ, not the sin of His child. This is why Jesus became our only mediator (1 Timothy 2:5), not the Virgin Mary (she also needed a Savior, for she was born with sin, see Luke 1:47), and not any created being. He can claim that He is the way, the truth, and the life.
