Reconciled to God

Romans 5:10
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Application:

Paul expands the concept of salvation by referencing the resurrection: If the death of [God’s] Son reconciled us to God, how much more … will we be saved by his life (5:10)? The death of Jesus brought us back to God, but Jesus didn’t remain dead. He’s alive right now and interceding for us (see Heb 7:25) to grant us victory over the power of sin and its consequences.*

Consider this: If Jesus could take you from hell to heaven through his death, what He can accomplish for you through His life is even more remarkable.

Many believers who have embraced the saving death of Christ still struggle to understand and access the saving life of Christ, which provides us with victory throughout history.*

Through His death, Jesus saved us from the penalty of sin (Romans 8:1). Through His resurrection, He continually saves us from the power of sin in our lives, sending the Holy Spirit to enable us to walk in His light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7). We must allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit and crucify the flesh and its lustful desires daily.
