Our Blessed Hope

Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Application:

In dark times, when it seems that the church will never achieve the unity God desires or the world seems immune to our message, we desperately need hope.*

This comes only through the power of the Holy Spirit of God, for He is the God of hope. Without Him, we may make resolutions, attempt to improve our relationships, and seek the best advice.  However, great advice without the power of the Spirit resembles a ladder on an unstable foundation: we can only ascend so high before we come crashing down.*

We receive the Holy Spirit when we trust and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38) and walk in obedience.  He has defeated death, hell, and the grave, making that victory available to us when we receive Him in faith, believing in the power of His blood shed for us.

When the world seems bathed in chaos, when the wicked rage for power, when society calls evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20), we can stand firm and, like the sons of Korah, exclaim:

Psalm 42:11
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

Jesus Christ is our Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13)!
