Job 37:5-6
God thunders marvelously with His voice;
He does great things which we cannot comprehend.
For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’;
Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.
Application:
In the book of Job, we encounter a portrayal of God’s voice that is both profound and awe-inspiring. Job 37:5-6 highlights the magnificence of divine communication, stating, ‘God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend.’ This powerful declaration not only emphasizes God’s omnipotence but also opens a window into the mysterious ways in which He interacts with creation.
Nature’s Response to God’s Command
The verses illustrate how the elements of nature respond to God’s directives. When the scripture mentions, ‘for He says to the snow, ‘fall on the earth’; likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength,’ it conveys a sense of order and authority. Nature acts upon God’s voice, reminding us of the interconnectedness between the Creator and His creations. Each form of precipitation—from delicate snowflakes to powerful downpours—carries with it the significance of divine will, manifesting God’s strength.
The Unfathomable Nature of God’s Works
Understanding God’s actions as incomprehensible fosters humility and reverence. It reminds us that there are forces at play beyond our finite understanding. When we reflect on Job 37:5-6, we are invited to embrace the mystery of faith. God’s wonders are beyond human comprehension, yet they invite us to trust in His purpose and timing. Hebrews 1:3 and Colossians 1:15-17 state that the Lord Jesus Christ upholds the whole universe, including ourselves (Acts 17:28).
After the fall of man, nature has also become rebellious towards mankind, as Paul wrote in Romans 8:22-24, all creation is currently groaning, waiting for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yet, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is sovereign over all.
To God be the glory!
Our Lord Jesus Christ created everything! By Him, For Him!
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
