Spirit Filled Community

Ephesians 5:19-20
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Application:

It is God’s work in the life of believers who consciously trust him to provide what they need to carry out what he wants them to do. A person is filled with the Spirit when self is removed, and the Spirit empowers believers to do the Father’s will. Since the Greek verb “filled” is in the plural, Paul emphasizes that the church must operate collectively as a Spirit-controlled community.

Paul says this happens by speaking and singing to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, … giving thanks always for everything to God … and submitting to one another in the fear of Christ. This is a reminder that we need spiritual input. We also need to speak God’s perspective to one another so that we all become full of spiritual things.

We need to worship and give thanks to God regularly, being subject to one another. But not just on Sundays. After all, the moment your car leaves the filling station, you begin burning fuel. So let worship become a lifestyle and regularly fill others’ tanks with God’s perspective. That way we will be filled by the Spirit—and not some cheap substitute.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
