Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Application:
The key to security is to find joy in the Lord. Then, he will grant you your heart’s desires (37:4). You can expect God’s action in your life when your thoughts and desires align with his. He wants to bless you more than you want to be blessed, so dedicate your way to the Lord (37:5). If you entrust your entire life to the King’s plan, he will act on your behalf with righteousness and justice (37:5–6).*
This powerful verse encourages us to find joy and fulfillment in our relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. It emphasizes that when we prioritize our spiritual connection, our desires align more closely with His will, leading to true happiness.
To delight in the Lord means to take pleasure in His presence and to find joy in His guidance. This is not merely about seeking blessings or material goods; it is about nurturing a heart that longs for intimacy with God. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, we cultivate a deeper understanding of His plans for our lives.
When our hearts are aligned with God’s purpose, the desires that emerge are transformed. The verse reassures us that God will fulfill our hearts’ desires when we seek Him first. This does not mean that every wish will be granted, but rather that He will guide us towards what is truly best for us, fulfilling our needs in unexpected ways.
