Blessing Your Children

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Every father is called to be a priest in their home; therefore, fathers must place the blessing of God on their children.

What is God’s Blessing?

God’s blessing is the supernatural “Favor of God (Proverbs 3:1-6),” found in His presence (Psalm 16:8-11), indwelling in His saints. This favor is then transferred to the saints’ children when laying their hands on them.

There are at least two types of blessings in the Word of God in context with this blog:
General Blessing
Specific Blessing

The General Blessing is found in the book of Numbers:

Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’

This passage serves as a significant reminder of the spiritual care that the Lord bestows upon His people. This general blessing is given to the people of Israel as a group by the High Priest. It is called the Aaronic Blessing because Aaron was the first High Priest.

Specific Blessings are targeted blessings given in the spirit of prophecy.

Read Genesis 49:1-28 for an example of specific blessings.

To bless your children with a specific blessing takes a few steps.

  1. Pray for God’s guidance
  2. Study and learn the specific skills the Lord has blessed your children with. For example, their personalities and skills, do they love music, sports, giving, leading, administering, etc?
  3. Write down what the Lord places in your heart concerning your children. For example, “May the Lord be in your music and bring joy and comfort to those who hear it, and bless the kingdom of God in worship.”
  4. Use promises from the Word of God concerning them (For example, Psalms, Deuteronomy 28)
  5. Pray again for confirmation
  6. Bless your children

To God be the glory!

Our Lord Jesus Christ created everything! By Him, For Him!

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
