Speaking Truth in Love

Ephesians 4:15
but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

Application:

To mature and grow in every way, we must be in an environment where we speak the truth in love.  The “Truth” is defined by what God says about a matter.*

Truth must reign, and sometimes it isn’t pretty when the truth confronts our sin. That’s why the truth can’t be used like a destructive hammer. It must be spoken with love, which involves compassionately, righteously, and responsibly seeking the well-being of its recipient.*

Paul explains in Ephesians 4 how to implement the new way of life that results from renewed thinking and produces authentic community. Since the church is the body of Christ, we are members of one another. We’re connected.*

So we must not lie but speak the truth to one another. Satan is “the father of lies” (John 8:44), so the children of God the Father must speak the truth. We can’t be a community unless we honestly address and admit our faults, failures, and weaknesses. We must speak the truth, but that must be done with love.*

The first item in the Armor of God is the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:10-17). A belt prevents everything from falling down or apart. The truth found in the Word of God serves as our constitution.

When we make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and obey Him, the Holy Spirit guides us to see people through God’s eyes and to draw the lost into God’s truth with love. The Holy Spirit also teaches us to edify believers in love rather than by judging their faults.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
