Job 19:25
For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
Application:
Job transitioned from accusing God to praising Him (19:25-27)!*
Hymns and songs of faith have been written from these verses. What’s most amazing about Job’s statement of faith here is that he seems to expect a bodily resurrection (19:26). If so, this would be the earliest evidence of this doctrine in Scripture. Indeed, Job was confident that death would not end his existence—a truth that the rest of the Bible affirms.*
Importantly, Job’s confidence that his Redeemer lives (19:25) led him to warn his friends against misinterpreting God and exposing themselves to judgment (19:28-29). Time would prove that Job’s warning was legitimate.*
Job expresses hope in his redeemer—the Hebrew word used here is go’el. Job has been pleading for an advocate before God, believing that he is unjustly suffering (16:11-21; 19:6), and now expresses hope in a redeemer who is alive and who will surely come to his rescue (compare 16:19, 21; 1 John 2:1).^
Elsewhere in the ot, God redeems His people from slavery (Exod 6:6) or exile (Isa 41:14). As a redeemer, He defends people’s causes (Psa 119:154; Prov 23:11; Jer 50:34) and delivers them from death (Psa 103:4).^

Disclaimer
When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
