Crucified With Christ

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Application:

Paul clarifies what happened to him (and us) at the moment of salvation: Through the law, I died to the law. God’s holy law demands death for sinners, but Jesus Christ acted as our substitute. He bore the wrath of God and died in our place so that we could live for God—not merely to satisfy our own racial or religious biases (2:19).*

By virtue of the gospel, I have been crucified with Christ. Through faith in Christ, I am united with Him—both in His death and in His resurrection. Therefore, I no longer live, but Christ lives in me (2:20). This is the substitutionary life of Christ, which is the key to victorious Christian living (see Rom 5:10). My identity in Christ is the most important aspect of my life. Everything else is secondary. We must die to any identity we have that is independent of Christ.*

This kingdom identity in Christ places my racial identity in proper perspective. The cross is not just a historical event; it influences contemporary life and impacts social and racial relationships.*

Jesus Christ died in our place so that we can live for Him and bring glory to His name, not so we may continue living in sin. The Holy Spirit dwells within us, enabling us to be the hands and feet, the mouth, the ears, and the eyes of Jesus here on earth. We cannot achieve this if we choose to remain slaves to sin. Jesus sets us free from sin, not free to sin.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
