The Fool

Psalm 14:1
The fool has said in his heart,
There is no God.”
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.

Application:

The “fool” referred to here lives without regard for God. They either disbelieve in God’s existence or are convinced that they are not accountable to God for their actions.*

Day after day, the concept of divine justice is distant from his thoughts. As a result, his lifestyle is morally corrupt (14:1). There were so many individuals like this during his time that David depicts God observing the human race from heaven and discovering no one who sought God or lived with wisdom (14:2).*

There is no one who does good, not even one (14:3). Indeed, the entire human race has been corrupted by sin. These first three verses are quoted by Paul in Romans 3:10–12 when he makes his case for the sinfulness of humanity. In Romans 3:23, he states, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”; therefore, our only hope is the grace of God and “the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Rom 3:23–24).*

The Bible has much to say about fools. Fool today usually means “a senseless fellow, a dullard.” The biblical definition has the added dimension of “someone who disregards God’s Word.” The Bible lists many characteristics of such a person, often contrasting him with one who is wise. Ecclesiastes 10:2 says, “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.” A fool is one whose wayward heart turns continually toward foolishness [Not righteousness].^

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
