1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,

Application:

A mediator is someone who unites two estranged parties. Sinful humanity is condemned under the righteous wrath of a holy God. Only Jesus Christ, the God-Man, can effect reconciliation.*

Due to his divine nature, he is sinless. Due to his human nature, he can serve as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinful humans. Knowing this, he gave himself as a ransom for all (2:6)—that is, he paid the price for everyone (theologians refer to this as unlimited atonement).*

The judgment of God against rebellious humanity has been fully satisfied through Christ’s sin-bearing work (see 1 John 2:2). However, to receive the benefits of this sacrifice, you must personally accept Christ’s payment by faith. To reach God, you must go through His Son.*

Prayer is a form of worship. We should pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus (John 16:23-24, Matthew 6:6). Praying to deceased saints, angels, or any other created being is a sin (Romans 1:25, Colossians 2:18). 

Why call Jesus Christ Lord if you don’t do what He says (Luke 6:46)? When we choose to not do what the Bible calls us to do, we are sinning. Pray only to God the Father, in Jesus’ name!
