Trust in the Lord

Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Application:

We face a choice in this life: we can either trust fallen humanity, the systems of this world, our own abilities and strengths, as well as our idols and false gods, or we can choose to fully trust our Father in heaven, our Creator, who does not overlook a sparrow’s funeral (Matthew 10:29).

God explained to Israel (and all humanity) that He had presented them with life and death, blessings and curses. He pleaded with them to choose life and live (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Israel, along with the rest of us, has chosen to follow a path that leads to death and destruction instead of placing our trust in God (Proverbs 14:12).

Judah faced God’s consuming fire when her people could have been experiencing his cool refreshment. These verses reveal the stark contrast between two ways of life: either trust in the strength of mankind and be cursed or trust in the Lord and be blessed (17:5, 7).*

The person who trusts the Lord will be like a tree planted by water (17:8), a description reminiscent of the blessed man of Psalm 1.*

When we make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and obey Him, we choose life and blessings. The Holy Spirit comes to reside in us and empowers us to live the life our Father in Heaven has planned for us. Anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and obeys Him will have rivers of living water flowing from within them (John 7:37-39).

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
