John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Application:
It was a new commandment because it pertained to the upcoming events within the family of God.
Biblical love involves compassionately, responsibly, and righteously pursuing another person’s well-being, distinct from liking someone.
To like or appreciate something is to express a feeling. Love, on the other hand, may or may not have feelings associated with it. It’s a decision to prioritize someone’s well-being, regardless of emotions.
Through loving one another, Jesus told them, everyone will know you’re my disciples. He didn’t say everyone would recognize them based on their knowledge of the Bible. Knowing the Bible is essential, but love is what matters (see 1 Cor 13:1–3).
A loveless Christian undermines the gospel because, as John says, “God is love” (1 John 4:8). How can people know the loving God if his representatives don’t show love?
Jesus teaches people to identify false prophets and disciples by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-20). He also shows how to recognize His followers when they show unconditional love for one another.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans In Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible.
