Verse of the Day, Love P3

1 Corinthians 13:6-7
does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Application:

Love does not rejoice in the vices of others, delight in their guilt, or rejoice when they fall into sin. It does not enjoy hearing accusations of sin against them or seeing proof of their wrongdoing. Love does not take malicious joy in the news that someone has done wrong or in pursuing that news to find it confirmed. Wicked individuals often take pleasure in this (Rom. 1:32), rejoicing when others succumb to sin and bring disgrace upon themselves.

The word “truth” here contrasts iniquity and signifies virtue, piety, and goodness. It does not take pleasure in the vices but rather in the virtues of others. It is delighted, rejoicing when they excel. It is satisfied when those who differ from us act in ways that please God, advancing their reputation and happiness.

“Bears all things.” The word used here (στέγει) properly means to cover (from στέγη, a covering, roof; Mat. 8:8; Luke 7:6); and then to hide or conceal, not to make known. If this is the intended meaning here, it implies that love tends to hide or conceal the faults and imperfections of others rather than to announce or broadcast them widely or to give them any undue publicity.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans In Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible.
