2 Peter 1:4
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
Application:
A key to spiritual growth is sharing in the divine nature, which penetrates and resides within every believer from the moment of salvation through the Holy Spirit. In a manner of speaking, Christians have God’s nature woven into their DNA. This nature includes spiritual appetite and godly behavior.*
Yet the divine nature is implanted in seed form (cf. 1 Pet 1:23) and doesn’t immediately translate into mature, godly living. Rather, it provides every Christian the potential to escape the corruption in the world due to evil desire, much like a seed offers its possessor the possibility to grow a plant. When the seed is nurtured and grows, the life of the Spirit flourishes in a believer’s soul, and this growth is manifested in the body through righteousness living.*
Paul echoes this message in 2 Corinthians 7:1:
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
As we grow in Christ, we allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit rather than by the lust of the flesh. Through this, we testify that we are God’s children (Romans 8:14-17).
Let us love Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and obey Him.

Disclaimer
When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be present. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible. Your brother in Christ, Ricardo
