More Than Conquerors

Romans 8:35,37
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Application:

Paul concludes this chapter with another question about eternal security: Who can separate us from the love of Christ? (8:35).

At this point, the answer should be obvious: no one. But Paul wants us to feel that answer, so he presents problem after problem.

Will affliction, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or sword? (8:35). In other words, can the worst circumstances on earth separate us from God’s love?

What about death… rulers… things present… things to come? (8:38). Will the spiritual powers of the invisible world separate us from God? Can one’s past, present, or future do that? Will any other created thing (8:39)?

Paul covers every possibility with that phrase. That’s as “all-encompassing” as “everything” gets.

Paul’s response to any objection is simply, “No!” Certainly, these things cannot separate us from God’s love! Nothing can. In fact, even in the midst of terrible circumstances, we emerge as more than conquerors (8:37). With God’s love, we don’t merely get by. We overwhelmingly conquer (see Gal 5:16).

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans In Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible.
