1 John 3:11-12
For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
Application:
How important is it to love your brothers and sisters in Christ? Imagine a patient who claims to have the flu but shows no symptoms. A doctor would respond, “You don’t have the flu.”
In the same way, the ultimate “symptom” or evidence of your vertical intimacy with God is your horizontal love for His children. We ought to love one another.
From the outset, the apostles received this message directly from Jesus (see John 13:35).
Biblical love is not just an emotion. It involves showing selfless concern for our brothers and sisters in Christ as a response to God’s grace toward us. It is the choice to compassionately, righteously, and responsibly pursue the well-being of others.
John refers to biological brothers to exemplify his point regarding spiritual brothers. Cain murdered his brother because his deeds were evil, while his brother’s were righteous (3:12).
Cain envied Abel’s acceptance by God, which led him to hatred. So, don’t be surprised if the world hates you (3:13). Just as Cain hated his brother for his righteousness, many in the world will hate you for living righteously and loving others.

When God inspires me, I write blogs. Consider this writing as a Bible study. Like the Bereans In Acts 17:11, search the Scriptures to determine whether what I write is so. Always consult with your church ministers about biblical matters. I am also not a professional writer, so some grammar or spelling errors may be. I try my best to write as efficiently as possible.
