James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Application:

Wisdom signifies understanding God’s plans and purposes, along with the ability to live in alignment with them. Wise individuals can discern the nature and purpose of their trials and understand how to overcome them. James depicts God as the source of wisdom that supports those in distress during their trials.

God grants wisdom regardless of a person’s past record. He gives to the humble seeker without reproaching them for their past sins, ingratitude, or potential misuse of God’s goodness.

Consider Solomon’s prayer for “wisdom” and God’s gift that exceeded his request, despite God foreseeing that Solomon’s future use of His goodness would be quite different. God grants wisdom and goodness to all who humbly seek it, wishing they repent and turn to Jesus Christ for eternal salvation (2 Peter 3:9). Make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior today while there remains time (Isaiah 55:6).
